６０年代にヒット･チャートをにぎわせたアイドル･バンド｢ナッズ｣のメンバーだったトッド。ソロになって、その抑えられていた感性、プロデュース能力が一挙に開花、爆発する。 　時代精神とは恐ろしいもので（同時代のアーティストであるボウイ同様）、ビジュアル性を重視し、アルバム制作においてもコンセプチュアルで暗示的なテーマをもった作品を発表し続ける。 　その反面、トッドの一つ一つの楽曲にスポットをあててみるとＲ＆Ｂを貴重とした美しいバラードに真骨頂を見ることができる。そのコンポーズ能力は誰もが認めるところだ。 　ただ、最後までその二つの個性は、その「才能の高さ」ゆえに「ぶつかり合うトッドの両面性」となった。それを自然に融合して行こう〜という態度（試行錯誤）が、作品そのものの歴史になったとも言える。 　お勧めアルバムは、Ｒ＆Ｂ色の強い｢ラント｣、その透明な雰囲気をもった美しい曲の連発｢サムスィング･エニスィング｣、トッドのサージェント的なアルバム｢魔法使いは真実のスター｣、エレクトロニクスと楽曲が自然に融合した作品｢未来から来たトッド｣、そしてボウイ同様トッドのピンナップス的作品「誓いの明日」。←何故このタイトル、僕だったら「コンプレックス＝愛すべき複雑な感情」とでもするぜ！何れにせよ、カバー・アルバムというより「オリジナルよりオリジナルらしい」超コピー作品と呼んだ方が正しいだろう。原題が「フェイスフル＝うりふたつ？」だしね〜。
