ソフト･マシーンのオリジナル・メンバーである永遠のボヘミアン、ケヴィン･エアーズ。彼と接点をもったアーティストを挙げると、それはもうひとつのロックの歴史である。 ソフト・マシーンのオリジナル・メンバー、マイケル･ラトリッジ、ロバート･ワイアット、デヴィット･アレン(ゴング)。ホール･ワールドに参加していたロル･コックスヒルとマイク･オールドフィールド、そして「チューブラ・ベルズ」のオーケストラ・ヴァージョンで指揮をしたデヴィット･ベッドフォード、それからソロ５枚目で競演しているニコなどなど。 また、発表されたアルバムの音楽性については、１枚目２枚目のスーパー・サイケデリック・サウンド、３～５枚目あたりのプログレッシブな内容、それ以降の「ポップで洗練されたボサノバチックなもの」とさまざまであるが、ケヴィン節とでも言おうか、その曲(バラード)の美しさには定評がある。その中でもワイアットがコーラス共演している３作目のタイトル曲の美しさは有名。そして、忘れてはいけないのが「ＪＵＮＥ１，１９７４」で弾くマイク・オールドフィールドのギターがとっても美しい８曲目を挙げたい。 とにかく、（アルファー波が出まくりの）「危うさとはかなさの微妙なバランスの上に成り立った」彼のスタイルは、今までもそうだったように、これからも死ぬまで変わることがないだろう。最後のヒッピー詩人、ココに健在といったところか･･･。 |
